(I think Andrew missed the "[heh heh]," o.c.)
He doesn't like having a mirror held up to *his* Gorgon-face on the newsgroup, as I and others have done so many times. But he can't take revenge on the newsgroup because we're all here with our mirrors, and nobody takes him seriously because the mirrors reveal him to be nothing more than a painted clown with delusions of fearsomeness, his head adorned with harmless rubber snakes and plastic fangs.
So he scuttles off to a dark corner of the Web and sets up a little fantasy world all his own, filled with fun-house mirrors and mocked-up monsters, where he rules, pretending to strike terror into the the hearts of the creatures of his dismal imagination.
We probably shouldn't mock him. He's such a desperately, desperately sad human being.
